A frame-by-frame review of André's 6-iron swing from the October 25 session at Mariners, hit off the mat with the full ball-flight readout from the range screen. It's report #7 for this club. It re-reads the same swing and screen as reports #3–#6 with the Birdie GAi scorecard and the full reference frame, and closes with simple next steps.
Bottom line: a strong 6-iron that ties his personal bests ★: 150 yards total, 146 carry and 107 mph of ball speed. That ball speed is only 2 mph under the LPGA Tour 6-iron average (109 mph), and the carry is 6 yards short of the LPGA average (152). The launch is a little high at 20° (LPGA 17.1°), but the peak is fine at 81 ft (27 yds) against a 25-yard LPGA average. This is report #7 of 10 for the 6-iron. This was a range session.
The scorecard has several good readings. The hips stay back (about 0.9 in away from the ball at impact, rear of the hips about 0.4 in inside the tush line), the hands return to their address spot (within 0.6 in), and the tempo is 2.6:1, in the good band and his best 6-iron ratio. The constant is still there: the head sinks about 6 in by impact.
107 mph ball speed (ties his best ★), hips staying back, hands back at their address spot, and a 2.6:1 tempo.
The head is about 6 in lower at impact. Keep the cap near its address line so the chest doesn't sink toward the ball.
A 20° launch is 3° above the LPGA average. A touch more hands-ahead delivery should bring it toward 17–18° and add carry.

★ = personal best for the 6-iron, tied with reports #3–#6 (same swing and screen). The apex tile is partly hidden by a shadow, so 81 ft is read as the apex from its position and unit. The curve arrow is small; it is read as right, as in the earlier logbook entries. Club speed isn't on the screen: at a typical iron smash of ~1.38–1.40, 107 mph of ball speed means about 76–78 mph of club speed (LPGA average 78, PGA Tour 92).
What it means: Ball speed is close to the LPGA level, so speed is not what holds back the carry. The ball launches 3° higher than the LPGA average (6° higher than the PGA Tour) and lands at 44°, a little softer than the LPGA 46°. The peak (27 yds) is normal. A somewhat lower launch with the same speed would turn some height into distance.
30 frames per second, so each time is accurate to about ±0.03 s. Takeaway starts at about 8.30 s (frame 99), the top is at 8.90 s (frame 117) and impact is at about 9.13 s (frame 124).
| Group | Backswing | Downswing | Ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| André (6-Iron #7, Oct 25 session) | ~0.60 s | ~0.23 s | ~2.6:1 |

| André (3-Wood #1, Oct 24 session) | ~0.50 s | ~0.30 s | ~1.7:1 |
| PGA Tour (Tour Tempo, "24/8") | ~0.80 s | ~0.27 s | 3:1 |
Tour figure: John Novosel, Tour Tempo. Reports #4–#6 used this same swing, so they show the same timing. One frame either way moves the ratio between about 2.3:1 and 3:1.
What it means: 2.6:1 sits inside the good band (2.5–3.5:1) and is the closest 6-iron ratio to the Tour 3:1. The downswing (0.23 s) is a touch quicker than the Tour 0.27 s, and the backswing (0.60 s) is shorter than the Tour 0.80 s. The rhythm is smooth, with no rushed top.
Nine key positions, filmed down-the-line from behind the hands. The target is straight into the picture.
Photos are numbered in the order they happen in the swing. The frames follow the standard swing positions.
The clubhead sole was shown to the camera between 15.5 and 18.5 s. All three crops read the same digit, a 6 with its loop at the bottom and the small bar beneath it (high confidence). Cross-check: the 146 carry and 150 total match his 6-iron best exactly, and are well beyond what a 9-iron would carry given his 144-yd 7-iron. Logged as the 6-Iron.

Depth note: From behind, the head's ~1.5–2.8 in shift toward the ball line sits partly along the depth rays, so it mixes "toward the ball" with "toward the target". One camera can't split the two. A face-on clip of the next swing will settle it (see Limitations).

Heads-up: the 6-iron carries only 2 yards more than the 7-iron (146 vs 144) and totals only 3 more (150 vs 147). Against the 5-iron the gap is large: 13 yards of carry and 19 of total, even though the ball speed differs by just 1 mph (107 vs 108). So the gap isn't about speed. Each club has one swing in the logbook, so the 5-iron may simply have been a very good one. A few more balls with the 5-, 6- and 7-iron will show the true gaps.
Confidence: high on ball flight (range screen) and tempo (measured frame by frame); moderate on head and hip distances (grid scaled from body size, ±1 inch); lower on shoulder and hip rotation (visual estimate, about ±10–15°) and on the toward-ball vs toward-target split (needs a second angle). The apex tile is partly hidden, and club speed is estimated.
Same camera spot. Keep the top of the cap close to the white address line until the ball is gone, for 10 balls.
Feel: "chest over the ball, knees keep their flex." Goal: head dip under 4 in.
Hit 5 balls with a three-quarter swing, feeling the handle lead the clubhead through impact. Watch the screen for a launch of 17–18°.
A lower launch with the same ball speed turns height into carry.
Whatever he did with the hips on this swing: keep it. The rear of the hips stays on the red tush line through impact.
Zero early extension, as in the last two 6-iron swings.
Keep the "back-2-3, down-1" rhythm that gave 2.6:1.
It's already the best 6-iron tempo in the logbook.
Next capture: to sharpen the reference frame: (1) the same down-the-line spot, filmed in slow motion (120 or 240 fps) so the ball can be followed frame by frame, (2) a face-on clip at chest height, (3) 3–5 balls for an average, and (4) André's height, to lock the grid scale.
